FCC Sharks First Week News

Hello FCC Shark Families!

Happy first day of swim team!  We're excited to officially start our 2026 season today!

Each Monday you will receive an email from me giving an overview of the week ahead.

I will also send out timely reminders before events so that everyone feels like they know all the details of what's next on the swim team agenda!

I'm reaching out today with several pieces of information. Please take some time to read each section of this email as it shares a variety of information. Thank you, in advance, for reading it all!

Team Suits:

For anyone who is interested in purchasing a team suit, I will be at the pool this week at the following times:

  • Monday, June 15th from 11:15 - 12:00
  • Thursday, June 18th from 7:30 - 8:15 for Campers and from 11:15 - 12:00
  • Friday, June 19th before, during and after Time Trials

Our team suit is a navy Nike suit with our team logo.  Boys jammers are $55 and girls suits are $70.  You can pay by cash, check or Venmo.

If none of those times work for you to purchase a suit, please email me directly and we will set up a time to meet!

As a note, purchasing a team suit is optional.

Swimtopia Tips:

It's important that you download the app and get used to how to navigate Swimtopia so that you can update your swimmer's availability for our meets and events.

I've attached an image of how you can get to the website from the app. At the top of the home screen when you open the app, you will see an option to "Visit Website". Once there, you can click on the tabs at the top of the screen if you prefer that way to navigate.

Here are two video links that I found very helpful as well:

Volunteer Opportunities:

There are many ways to help our FCC swim season run smoothly! While we will be tapping each family to volunteer at 2 swim meets during the season, there are a few specific roles we are looking to fill.

Meet Starter - We really are in need of training a meet starter. Our long-time starter is the parent of a graduated high school senior. We are looking to have a few people shadow and train with our current starter. The meet starter announces the event and heat, prepares the swimmers and then gives the starting signal with a whistle and electronic starting device. It's definitely a role that would be easier to learn with swimming experience.

Meet Table Worker - This role requires learning how to use Meet Manager, which is a computer program that collects and organizes are meet data as it comes in from each event. It's an easy learn for computer users and requires no swim experience!

Time Trials Timers - On this Friday, June 19th, we will be having time trials starting at 8:00 am. In order to run time trials, we ideally need about 18 timers. If you are able to stay at the pool from 8 - 10 am on Friday, please reply to this email and I will add your name to the timer list for Friday.

If you have an interest in either being a part of the Meet Table Worker or learning about Meet Starter, please reply to this email individually as soon as possible.

Thanks again for reading this lengthy email!

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns!
